Staff Profiles

Our dedicated staff of four full-time conference professionals is committed to assisting every conference client in all areas of event and conference planning. Our goal is to provide each planner and attendee with the feeling that their conference, camp, or event is the most important and only program on campus. Our conference office acts as a one-stop-shop where with one phone call all needs including housing, food service, meeting facilities, technology support, transportation and recreation services will be coordinated.

Dan Dykstra

Dan Dykstra
Associate Director of Housing, Conference Services

Dan brings over 18 years of collegiate conference and event planning expertise to the Georgia Tech Office of Conference Services. Prior to his arrival at Georgia Tech in 1998, Dan held conference and events positions at his Alma Mater, Colorado State University. Dan remains an advocate of collegiate conferencing, and truly enjoys both the opportunities and challenges of this growing profession. Dan has been active in Association of Collegiate Conference and Events Directors-International, serving as a Regional Director, as a committee member, and as a frequent presenter at both regional and national conferences. Dan is also professionally affiliated with the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, MPI and RCMA. Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau , MPI and RCMA.

 
John Nussear

John Nussear
Conference Coordinator

John brings eight years of professional experience in summer conference and special event planning to the Georgia Tech Office of Conference Services. John graduated in 2002, from Towson University, in Baltimore, Maryland with a Bachelors Degree in Mass Communications. As a professional event and conference manager at Towson, John directed the logistical planning and program implementation for numerous organizations and event sponsors. He planned and managed programs ranging from president's dinners to comedy shows, but specialized in late-night programming and concerts, requiring the direction of security, police and event teams. Currently, John is a conference coordinator, in the Georgia Tech Office of Conference Services. This position allows him to focus and refine his customer service and business skills, while having the strict responsibility for revenue generation through summer conference programs. John is also the creator and director of the Intern Lodging Program at Tech. This program is designed to provide affordable lodging and other amenities to summer interns working in and around Atlanta. John is a member of the Association of Collegiate Conference and Events Directors-International (ACCED-I). He has attended several national and regional ACCED-I conferences, and also participated in the conference planning and direction of roundtable discussions, for two regional's, at Towson University and Georgia Tech.

 

Jennifer Beattie
Conference Coordinator

Jennifer brings 12 years of experience in Residence Life and Conference Services. Throughout her career she has held positions at Eckerd College, Valdosta State University, Texas A&M University (TAMU), Saint Leo University and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). New York state is where she calls home and also where she obtained her Bachelors Degree in Photo journalism at the RIT. Jennifer later went on to TAMU to complete her Masters in Higher Education Administration. Jennifer is professionally affiliated with ACPA, NASPA, ACUHO-I Conference Services, and NRHH. Jennifer continues to provide photography services for University publications.

 
Amanda Brown

Conference Operations Manager

Amanda has been a member of the Georgia Tech community since she began her undergraduate education in 2003. She joined the Office of Conference Services in 2006, gaining conferencing experience as a student. Amanda graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's Degree in International Affairs. Having attended Georgia Tech, she brings a unique perspective of campus organizations, services, and meeting space options. Amanda previously enjoyed working closely with the Georgia Tech Department of Housing's Residence Life and was involved with the Residence Hall Association where she developed programs and activities for students on campus. Also prior to her position at Conference Services, she worked with the Georgia Tech Student Center as a Guest Services Manager, where she assisted with their events and meeting space management. She has enjoyed attending the ACUI and ACCED-I conferences, and is now professionally affiliated with ACCED-I."
